The attacks in Paris this past week troubled the majority of humanity the world over. Our hearts and prayers go out to those who were injured and to those who so tragically lost loved ones.
Nohemi Gonzalez, a 23 year old design student, died in the attacks, and we understand that her family attended an Assembly of God church in Whittier, CA. Please pray for all those personally touched by this attack.
Jesus said in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
This scripture was spoken by Jesus to his disciples after he told them that they would scatter and he would be crucified. Notice the past tense in that last victorious statement. Jesus spoke about himself overcoming as already done. Our victory in Jesus is “a sure thing,” “as good as done,”
if we trust in him, follow him, and live our lives based on his word. When there is violence,
danger, and sorrow in this world, go to Jesus and His Word.
Real peace can only be found in the One who has already overcome the world.
